In December 2014, only a paltry 230 private residential units were sold (excluding ECs) by developers, a 44 per cent decline from the 412 units sold in November and the lowest monthly sales figure in 2014 and in recent years. Demand has slackened off due to the holidays and most developers scaled back marketing efforts in view of the cautious market conditions, preferring to strategise for 2015 instead. Consequently, only 53 private homes were launched for sale, representing a 94 per cent decrease from the previous month.
